Good Morning Gjallarhorn Episode 031 – Ode To The Gjallarhorn Group
Good morning Horners! It is the bye week, and the gang is altogether along with a special guest, Mr. Manbear Pig. This fine artist who loves his Vikings football took his handle from the famous Southpark episodes of that great show. He joins Ted, Drew, and myself for a sit-down and talk that focuses on our love for the Minnesota Vikings.
I'd like to give everybody a heads up… This episode very much focuses on a group of Vikings fans that get together and talk football. For the first 15 1/2 minutes, we do just that. After that, however we get into some of our group specifics with some fantasy games and roll into our fantasy football midseason update. I will not be hurt if you skip to the trailers at the end of the show at that point.
We start to show with introductions and then talking about that wonderful victory over the Detroit Lions. We go over some of the histories of the folks that wore #77 briefly mentioning Vikings greats like Gary Larson, Kory Stringer, and Mark Mullaney. We talk about how our beloved team seems to have made adjustments, not only on the defensive side of the ball but as to the offense as well. We are getting unexpectedly good play from rookie Brian O'Neill who has yet to give up a sack since he is started. It is pretty much a done deal that he is earned his starting job at right tackle. It was good to see Dalvin Cook break off such a nice run against the Detroit Lions, of which Brian O'Neill had a couple of key blocks. Also, just how sweet that victory actually was.
More talk of actually how well quarterback Kirk Cousins is doing, the adjustments made by coach Mike Zimmer, how players like Anthony Harris and Jayron Kearse have stepped up and made contributions, along with the wonderful play by Danielle Hunter in the defensive line.
We move on to discuss coming out of the bye week and playing the Chicago Bears in prime time next Sunday after being flexed into that spot. This will be a big contest, especially with all the history involved to include Coach Mike Ditka comments about the Vikings and the roller dome. Our guest doesn't like Coach Ditka a whole lot. I'm curious to how many of you have memories and opinions of Coach Ditka as well?
At this point, at the 15 1/2 minute mark, we move on to talking about our guest, Mr. Manbear Pig, inventing the fantasy game that you've heard us talk about called The Game of Skol. We discuss how it came about and how it is played. We go over some of the prizes that participants have a chance of winning if their choices, with a little bit of luck, like Danielle Hunter and the Lions game, turn out to be good ones. It is an extremely fun game that I think a lot of you would be interested in playing in the future.
From there it's onto our fantasy league update and we know most people don't care about your fantasy league. Feel free to scrub through a portion of the show you're not interested in. We want to thank the Gjallarhorn group for giving us our inspiration that led to the creation of this vodcast and to talk Minnesota Vikings football. The show is dedicated to them.

Good Morning Gjallarhorn Episode 030 – In The Raw: Celebrating Sackles!
Good morning Horners! The Detroit Lions came to town where they had beaten the Minnesota Vikings twice at US Bank Stadium. Well, that did not happen on Sunday where the Vikings defense put on a clinic and set a new Vikings record sacking Matthew Stafford 10 times. Ted, Drew and I celebrated wildly. We loved the results.
Danielle Hunter now leads the NFL with 11.5 sacks but is not just a pass rushing specialist. He’s the whole deal playing the run game just as well. We saw that Everson Griffen, Sheldon Richardson, Linval Joseph, Tom Johnson, and Stephen Weatherly all combining with Hunter to put on a show. Andre Patterson has coached these young men to a level rarely seen and definitely deserved a game ball himself.
Adam Thielen extended his touchdown streak. Woot! Chad Beebe debuted and caught everything thrown his way. Then there was the return of the explosiveness of Dalvin Cook, who was clocked at 22.7 mph on his 70-yard run. He and LaTavius Murray look similar to Robert Smith and Leroy Hoard. Expect more of that in the future. Next stop will be for a Sunday night prime time game at the Chicago Bears to battle for the lead in the division.
We look forward to the bye week, where GMG has special shows planned, but for right now it is time to celebrate a very good win and the invention of the “sackle”. Laugh and relive this game with us, and tell us what you think.

Good Morning Gjallarhorn Episode 029 – Gnome More Mistakes
Good morning Horners! It's Lions week, or when this comes out actually game day. Ted Glover, Drew Bunting, and I get together and preview what should be a fun-fest held within US Bank Stadium as our Minnesota Vikings take on the Detroit Lions.
In this episode, we talk about getting things right, like getting selected to win a gnome. We talk about no more mistakes. The Vikings, due to their own play, which has included mistakes in various aspects of the game, be it by players or by coaches, absolutely have little to no room left to make any mistakes if they wish to make the playoffs. A good example of this was the time management issue during the New Orleans Saints game. Norse Code’s Arif Hasan, asked Coach Zimmer about this. This plays into some midseason grades that Drew asks Ted and me to give.
Looking ahead to the game, we talked about the impact of Detroit trading away one of their best receivers, in Golden Tate. He always used to be a thorn in the Vikings side just about every time they played the Lions. He is now gone leaving only Marvin Jones Jr and Kenny Golladay as the two only viable receivers for Matthew Stafford to throw to. Stafford has all the talent in the world but is inconsistent at times, just like our own Kirk Cousins can be, but has seemed to have pulled rabbits out of his hat when it comes to beating the Norsemen in their home stadium. Drew brings his normal bird’s eye view of the stats, and suggest that will be easily able to run against this team. It’s looking like Dalvin Cook is likely to return to play, and Latavius Murray is running well, so this could very well be the case. We are still looking forward to production from Adam Thiel and Stefon Diggs. Diggs however, has already been ruled out for the game with a rib injury he suffered while landing on the ball last week. Aldrick Robinson has stepped up and caught touchdowns just about every time he's been on the field, that will have to continue Sunday as he is expected to get more playing time.
Even though the Lions traded away Golden Tate, they traded and got the week before, Damon "Snacks" Harrison to sure up their defensive line and beef up their run defense. The Vikings interior three, are going to have their hands full with that big man. This is the point where the rubber hits the road and the team must respond under the pressure. Vikings fans will be looking forward or hoping for, a convincing win just like in the old days when Dick the Bruiser and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka were tearing it up in the ring.
On the show, you have heard Drew talk about his playing days not only in football but as a rock bassist. He was part of a band called Little King, and a fan sent in a YouTube of them where you can see Drew knocking it out of the park, just like we expect the Vikings to do on Sunday.
